Romanoff and Juliet

  • ROMANOFF AND JULIET<BR>21 AUG - 1 SEP 2024

A witty and charming entertainment.

Romanoff and Juliet  by Peter Ustinov

Director: Isabelle Moy

Dates: August 21 to September 1, 2024

Peter Ustinov’s delightful comedy, a 20th century West End hit, is set in a tiny, mythical country, lying smack on the border between East and West, which is defended by an army of two and a daring General who is constantly playing off one superpower against the other.

Russia sends an ambassador - a Romanoff, no less. The U.S. dispatches one of its typical business diplomats.

So, what happens when the son of the Russian ambassador accidentally falls head over heels in love with the daughter of the American ambassador?

This charming play cleverly manages to be both a comic spoof of the Cold War and a romantic comedy, with both sides eventually coming to the realisation that international rivalries pale in the face of true love.
